3 burnt in AC explosion inside Paltan barbershop

Three persons were burnt in a fire believed to be originated from an air-conditioner explosion inside a barbershop in Dhaka's Paltan area last night.

The injured -- shop owner Abul Kalam (35), Rasel (28) and Shah Alam (50) -- were rushed to Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute with severe burns.

Abu Bakar Siddique, officer-in-charge of Paltan Police Station, said, "Haircutting was going on inside the shop, lowering the shutters. Around 9:00pm, an explosion happened, resulting in the fire."

"The three men were on fire before they could come out of the shop, opening the shutters," he said.

Rasel Shikder, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the fire died down before they reached there after hearing the news.
