21 lakh shrimp fries seized in Ctg

A mobile court seized 21 lakhs of shrimp fries, worth Tk 42 lakh, during two drives conducted at Sitakunda Bus Stand in Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong in the last two days.

The court led by Sitakunda assistant commissioner (land) Ruhul Amin raided a Khulna-bound bus early yesterday and seized six lakhs of shrimp fries, caught illegally from the Bay of Bengal in  Sitakunda coastal area.

It also fined four staff of the bus Tk 20,000.

The same court on Thursday seized 15 lakhs of shrimp fries from another Khulna-bound bus in Sitakunda Bus Stand and fined four bus staff Tk 20,000. The seized fish were released in the Bay of Bengal in Kumira Ghat area.
