2,018 online newspapers seek registration

The Press Information Department has received 2,018 applications so far from across the country for registration of online newspapers, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu told the Jatiya Sangsad yesterday. 

The minister disclosed the information while replying to a question.

The government does not have any list of online newspapers in the country, Inu said, adding that a process is underway to register the online newspapers.

The number of registered newspapers in the country now stands at 3,025 while that of approved private television channels is 45, he said.
