20 tonnes of hilsa fry seized in Ctg

A Chittagong mobile court yesterday seized 20 tonnes of hilsa fry (less than 10 inches) in two trawlers, anchored at Icha Nagar Ghat of the Karnaphuli river. 

It also fined the Agro Food Ltd, which owns the vessels, Tk 50,000 for catching the hilsa fry defying the ban.

The seized fry will be distributed at orphanages, said Executive Magistrate of Chittagong District Administration Syed Morad Ali.
