2 teens drown in sea

Fire service personnel yesterday recovered the bodies of two teenage boys who went missing on Thursday afternoon in Bay of Bengal in Banshbaria area under Sitakunda upazila of Chittagong.

They were identified as Shafayet Hossain Raz, 16, and Nazmul Hasan Emon, 19, both from Siddhirganj in Narayanganj, said fire service officials.

Nine teenage tourists from Narayanganj came to Sitakunda and went swimming in the Bay at Banshbaria beach in the afternoon, said Wasi Azad, station officer of Sitakunda fire service office.

Locals rushed to rescue three of them when they noticed five of the boys, swimming in deep sea, started drowning, he said, adding that they could not trace two others.

Divers of the fire service yesterday launched a search operation in the area and recovered the bodies around 3:00pm, said Azad.
