2 oil companies sued over weight

The authorities of Bangladesh Standard Testing Institute (BSTI) in Rangpur yesterday sued two edible oil companies for giving oil less in weight.

During a raid in different markets on January 23, a team of BSTI officials found 75ml less oil in five-litre containers of Teer Fortified Soybean Oil of M/s Deepa Food Products of Narayanganj and 40ml less in one-litre bottles of Suresh Mustard Oil of M/s Anapurna Oil Mill of Narsingdi. Later, Zulfiquar Ali, an inspector of BSTI in Rangpur, filed the case with Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court yesterday accusing four people including the owners of two companies.
