17 return home from Indian jails

Seventeen Bangladeshis returned home yesterday after serving different terms in Shilchar and Karimganj jails in India.

Indian Border Security Force handed them over to Bangladesh Immigration Police at Zakiganj check post in Sylhet.

Immigration police said the 17 entered Indian territory through Sylhet border without any valid document. Three of them, who were sentenced to three months' imprisonment, lost mental stability while languishing in jails for three years, said police, adding that their addresses are yet to be known.
