144 bureaucrats promoted

The government today promoted 73 deputy secretaries to the rank of joint secretary and 71 senior assistant secretaries to deputy secretary respectively.
The promotion came three days into promotion of 85 joint secretaries to the rank of additional secretary.
Ministry of Public Administration issued separate gazette notifications containing names of 70 joint secretaries and 62 deputy secretaries.
The promotions were made though there are no vacant posts for the officials of the two ranks.
