10,000 flats for low, middle-income people in Mirpur: minister

Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain today said that the government will build 10,000 flats for low and middle-income people on its own land in Mirpur area of Dhaka.

The National Housing Authority (NHA) has undertaken a project in this regard, the minister made the announcement while visiting the new project area.

A total of 8,000 residential flats on 92 acres of land at sector 11 of Mirpur will be constructed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP), the minister said.   

He said a multi-storey residential-cum-commercial building will be set up on three acres of land in sector-3 of the area where there will be 150 flats.

The people who are still living in the proposed project area will be given priority while allotting the flats, he added.

Housing and Public Works secretary Md Shahid Ullah Khandaker, NHA chairman Khandaker Akhtaruzzaman and its senior officials were present on the occasion.
