1-yr judicial duty now needed for promotion

The Supreme Court yesterday accepted the law ministry proposal to promote additional district judges with 15 years of job experience including one year of judicial duty to the post of district judge.

Previously, the additional district judges needed to have two years of judicial work experience for the promotion.

The SC took the decision at a full-court meeting of the High Court judges with Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah, who is carrying out responsibilities of the chief justice, in the chair.
