Pahela Baishakh 1422

It is a time to let go of the dismal past and look forward and welcome the New Year. People, after having given particular attention to their looks, gather in Ramna and on Dhaka University campus from daybreak. The Pahela Baishakh celebrations begin. In the early morning all eyes are on Chhayanaut's programme at the Batamul in Ramna Park. As the hours go by people look forward to Mangal Shobhajatra brought out by the students of the Institute of Fine Arts. It is a day for friends and family. They wear colourful clothes and have traditional food, particularly stale rice and hilsa.
