The Sacrifice

Cattle from around the country and even different parts of the world have been gathered at the cattle market in the capital’s Gabtoli for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. It is one of the 24 cattle markets in the capital. Surprisingly, this year there have been more local breeds of cows than their imported counterparts. The prices are also relatively higher, given the market is yet to pick up pace. One of the highest priced cows at Gabtoli had an asking price of Tk 25 lakh. A healthy-looking goat was also spotted with a price tag of one lakh. Apart from cows and goats, exotic animals, such as fat-tailed sheep and camels are also available.
