CID takes over Mujibur's abduction case

The Criminal Investigation Department yesterday took the charge of the case filed over the alleged kidnapping of Sunamganj district BNP leader and his chauffeur.
Inspector Suranjit Talukder, CID's Sunamganj camp in-charge (investigation), will now conduct the probe, said Officer-in-Charge Abdul Hai Chowdhury of Sunamganj Police Station.
Mujibur Rahman, a member of the advisory committee of the BNP's Sunamganj unit, and his driver Rezaul Haque were "kidnapped" on May 4 in Sunamganj and were freed in Gazipur on August 18.
As of now, police have found "contradictions in statements" provided by the two. Considering the case's importance, the police headquarters had made the transfer.
