Members of Kotwali police under Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) have started home delivery of medicines to ensure city dwellers get their medicines at fair prices and do not have to get out of the house.

Some pharmacy owners in the city had started to charge extra by creating an artificial crisis of medicines including those prescribed to Covid-19 patients, said Mohammed Mohsin, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station.

"To foil the syndicate, we have launched a mobile-based medicine service – My Pharmacy -- for home delivery so that people can buy medicine at fair prices," Mohammad Mohsin said.

Authorities have introduced a hotline number for this purpose as well: 01870700700. The service will primarily be available in Kotwali area at 15 percent discount in comparison to the market price.

A group of motorbikes will help deliver the medicine to people's doorsteps at any given time.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) (South) Mehedi Hasan of CMP inaugurated the service as part of their efforts to reduce hardship of people during the coronavirus crisis.
