Charges proved against Mobarak

Many people were killed by Razakars and Al-Badrs during 1971 Liberation War of the country.

Mobarak Hossain, a leader of Brahmanbaria Awami League, was guilty of two out of total five charges levelled against him for committing crimes against humanity during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.

The tribunal awarded him the capital punishment for killing 33 people on the west bank of Ganga Sagar Dighi in Brahmanbaria on October 24, 1971 and life term imprisonment for gunning down Abdul Khaleque of Satian village on November 11 the same year.

He has been acquitted of the rest three charges as allegation brought him could not be proved. The charges are:

On October 24, 1971, Mobarak abducted college student Ashu Ranjan of Shimrayl village and shot him dead four days later.

On November 24 or 25, a Razakar team led by Mobarak abducted Khadem Hossain Khan of Kharampur and brutally tortured him.

On November 28 or 29, Mobarak along with the Pakistan army abducted Abdul Malek of Kharampur and Mohammad Siraj of Amirpara and shot them dead on December 6.
