Miscreants set fire to a private car of Sabihuddin Ahmed, an adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, parked on a road near her Gulshan office in Dhaka this evening.

The arson took place amid a countrywide nonstop blockade enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance. Khaleda, also head of the alliance, declared the blockade after she was barred from leaving her office on Monday.

Sabihuddin got down from his car on a road adjacent to the way leading to the Gulshan office of Khaleda and went to meet her.

The car driver, Faruk Hossain, who was waiting beside the vehicle, told reporters that three youths riding separate motorbikes arrived there all on a sudden.

They poured petrol on the car, torched it and fled away immediately.
