VISA and e-CAB signs MoU to grow adoption of digital payments

Visa and the e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) have signed a MoU to increase the adoption of digital payments in Bangladesh. The MoU positions Visa as e-CAB's preferred partner in developing digital payments in the country and outlines a series of initiatives they will be focusing on. Visa and e-CAB's immediate focus will be sharing knowledge and best practice for the development of digital commerce, and supporting Digital Bangladesh initiatives including driving adoption of digital payments by various governmental, ministerial and non-governmental institutions.

eTunes win South Asian Manthan Award

SSL Wireless's Music & Culture based product eTunes won the South Asian Manthan Award 2016-2017 for the second time. 65 projects were nominated as finalists amongst 296 projects in whole South Asia in 9 categories. 25 projects from Bangladesh were submitted in different categories. Amongst all 17 winner projects in 9 categories eTunes was the only project to win from Bangladesh. eTunes have won this award in the Culture and Tourism category.

Online tourism services sees boost

Recently a survey by Jovago, a leading online hotel booking service in Bangladesh, stated that there has been incremental boost in online tourism services in Bangladesh. According to Jovago which drew comparison between the calendar years of 2015 and 2016, saw clear indications that the number of hotel bookings through Jovago's services has grown more than sevenfold. Moreover, this number is growing at a high rate day by day still.

Google RCS messaging app in Symphony smartphones

Google is going to introduce an enhanced version of the messaging product named "Rich Communication Service" or RCS. This service is exclusively aimed at android smartphones and the resulting default messaging app will be known "Android messages". In Bangladesh, Google will introduce this service with Symphony handset through "Android messages". In this app, users will still be able to send SMS and MMS besides the RCS service. New Symphony customers will be able to enjoy this facility very soon in some selected models.   

Google Women Techmaker and ICT Division celebrates Women's Day

Women Techmakers powered by Google Developers Group Dhaka and ICT Division organised "International Women's Day Celebration 2017" on Wednesday March 08, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the capitals' Bangladesh Computer Council auditorium. EMK Centre and Bikroy, the largest marketplace of Bangladesh were the partner and associate partner of the event.  Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Hon'ble State Minister, Bangladesh ICT Division was the Chief Guest during the event.
