HopIn: A budget-friendly ridesharing service by local youths

A group of Bangladeshi youths has developed a digital platform – HopIn – to facilitate ride-sharing for students and middle-class jobholders. According to the founders, this platform tries to ensure 'maximum safety' for female users in the newly introduced carpooling service in Dhaka. Finding the current ridesharing platforms expensive, one of the main focuses while founding HopIn was making it cost-effective hence student-friendly, according to Ridwan Hossain, CEO of HopIn. Currently, HopIn's service is made available through car-sharing where students get the option to'Share-A-Car' with their university mates. The entire system is app-based and connects with other university students traveling in the same direction.
