Highlights of CES 2019

LG's Rolling OLED

The LG Signature OLED TV R is a 65-inch 4K TV which stunned viewers and audiences with its unique rolling feature. It sits on top of a metal housing, which it will slide back into elegantly when left idle. The TV can also be brought halfway up and become a smart home controller, music player amongst other useful things.

Samsung's Bots

While Samsung's MicroLED TVs stole the show for most, their new line-up of robots deserves a spotlight for stealing everyone's hearts. The Samsung Bot Air, which can purify the air in your home looks like Wall-E, and the Samsung Bot Care is basically a derpy looking face which is a full-service health monitoring robot. Samsung also unveiled the Bot Retail (for shopping), and Bot Gems (for increased mobility) at CES 2019.

Nvidia GTX 2060

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 will retail for $350 and it will come with Nvidia's new ray tracing technology. On paper, it will just be as powerful as the GTX 1070 Ti but the chance to step into the world of ray tracing maxed out at 1080p, at just $350 is a delectable enough offer.

Toyota's Guardian System

Toyota's Guardian system isn't a human driver replacement program but rather an aid to make driving safer. Toyota is currently testing the Guardian system on the modified LS sedans from its Lexus luxury brand. The company is partnering with Uber on a fleet of autonomous Sienna minivans, as part of a deal which includes a $500 million investment in the ridesharing company.

Alienware's Area 51 Laptops

The first laptop to come with the new Alienware legends design, Dell has crammed a full-blown desktop Intel Core i9-9900K CPU inside it, making it the world's first laptop to have a desktop CPU of such calibre. Not to mention, the laptop is upgradeable too.

Samsung's MicroLEDs

MicroLED technology claims to be brighter and longer-lasting than OLED displays. With this future in mind, Samsung showcased their ambitious 219-inch MicroLED display at CES 2019, dubbed The Wall. They also showcased a 75-inch MicroLED TV set, which will be available for purchase sometime in 2019.

Royole Flexpai foldable smartphone

While, the Royole Flexpai had been making rounds for some time even before CES but they revealed the device to the audience at large at the event. But the phone isn't the sleekest looking device out there and many of its software quirks need sorting. As it stands, the Flexpai was Royole's attempt at beating Samsung to the punch.

Mercedes Benz EQ Silver

While this concept car had already made its world premiere on 27 August, 2018; it was still a cause for a lot of excitement at the CES show floor. Designed based on the W 125 Benz from 1937, it's a futuristic looking electric car which manages to look retro.

Hyundai's walking concept car Elevate

The walking and crawling concept car from Hyundai the Elevate, turned quite a few heads at CES with its robotic legs. The car looked eerie at best, bordering on uncanny sometimes on account of its movements.

Matrix PowerWatch 2

One of the best looking wearable of CES 2019, the Matrix PowerWatch 2 is solar powered, has a colour display, built-in GPS, and heart-rate sensors. More so than bells and whistles, the Matrix PowerWatch 2 continues on the success of the PowerWatch and is built like a tank.

D-Link's 5G Router

5G is around the corner, and D-Link has unveiled their 5G N Enhanced Gateway router in anticipation of the near future. With D-Link's router, consumers can get speeds which are up to 40 times higher than the American average of 70Mbps all from just using the 5G internet carriers would offer in the future.

Asus ROG Mothership (GZ700)

The Mothership is basically a Surface but for gaming. The Mothership is rocking a mobile Core i9-8950HK chip and Nvidia's brand new GeForce RTX 2080. For RAM, Asus skips the usual, and instead opted for four SO-DIMM slots which can provide up to 32GB or 64GB of DDR4 memory.

Google's new Interpreter mode

Google Assistant's new Interpreter mode was the standout announcement from the Google press conference. Google's voice assistant will soon get this update and it would be able to translate up to 27 languages for you and speak on your behalf while translating other people's speech as well. 

Withings Move ECG

The Apple Series 4 Watch garnered a lot of praise in 2018 for being one of the first smartwatches to be able to give you ECG readings. Now we have the Withings Move ECG, which costs only a third of the Series 4 Watch, being priced at just $130.   

Bell's Air Taxi

Bell revealed the latest version of their Nexus VTOL aircrafts, the futuristic helicopter and it is being developed as the preferred mode of transport for Uber's Elevate air taxi program. The helicopter hybrid will be able to carry four passengers and a pilot up to a range of 150 miles and be able to travel that distance in just one hour.  

AerBetics Breathalyzer for Diabetics

The AerBetics by AerNos, are a wearable device which let's  you measure your exhaled breath and measure gases which can indicate a hypoglycemic or hyperglycemic episode, and monitor them via a proprietary app. This will relieve diabetes patients from the pain of having sore fingers all day.

Lumini's skincare

AI skincare assistant Lumini can analyze the different zones of your skin and recommend products to help you offset problems like pigmentation and sebum. It can do it all from a picture of your face.  

Ford's C-V2X System

C-V2X is the latest incarnation of V2X (vehicle-to-everything) technology, a communication technology that will allow cars to "talk" to each other and infrastructures. Ford, in partnership with Qualcomm mentioned that C-V2X technology could be integrated with driver aids, such as, Ford's existing Co-Pilot360 suite. Qualcomm expects C-V2X and other related technologies to become a major part of its business by 2022.  

Intel's 10nm Ice Lake processor

Intel's widely discussed Ice Lake processors saw the light of day at CES 2019. The 10nm processor would come with Thunderbolt 3, WiFi 6 and Deep Learning boost and Intel said that PCs and laptops manufactured in 2019 will have devices with Ice Lake processors in them.   

Honor View 20

Officially unveiled in China a month ago, the Honor View 20 was under wraps for the worldwide audience, until CES 2019. Everyone got a clear idea about the the prospects of the punch-out camera hole display. While the Honor View 20 does not have an OLED display but rather an LCD display, Honor and parent company Huawei have officially started the first smartphone trend of 2019.
