Facebook to train women in India about digital security

Cybercrime against women in this part of the world is becoming a growing problem. With easy access to the internet, more and more people are going online to connect with the world. But the sad reality remains, the growing number of internet users are facing cyberbullying and being the victim of cybercrime. And a majority of the cybercrimes reported today are somehow connected to social media. Facebook, the largest social media on earth, has been receiving backlash from the community for not taking enough preventive steps to ensure the safety of its users for quite a while now.

Hence in an unprecedented move, has taken a drastic decision to train nearly 60,000 women across universities of India on safe usage of internet, social media and email. In collaboration with National Commission for Women (NCW) and Cyber Peace Foundation.

The curriculum of the training hasn't been divulged yet but according to Cyber Peace Foundation, a civil society organisation from Ranchi of Jharkhand, the collaborative training will be conducted by their personnel in multiple prominent languages.

The digital literacy program will benefit women in universities across major cities in Haryana, Delhi-NCR, Manipur, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu.

Considering the growing number of women Facebook users of Bangladesh, we believe, similar sort of training program if is organised for Bangladesh, would be tremendously beneficial.
