United Airways to resume flights

United Airways is set to resume its flights on international routes that were suspended by the private carrier's management.

The airline will make a comeback with a passenger flight from Dhaka to Kolkata on June 1, the company said in a statement.

The airline will also introduce passenger flights between Chittagong and Kolkata soon.

It will operate three flights a week on the Sylhet- Muscat -Dubai-Sylhet route after starting a passenger flight in the second week of next month.

The listed private carrier also plans to start operations on the Chittagong-Muscat-Dubai-Chittagong and Dhaka-Muscat-Dhaka routes.

It will also operate three flights a week on the Dhaka-Bangkok-Singapore and Dhaka-Singapore-Kuala Lumpur routes, in addition to the existing Dhaka-Kuala Lumpur route.

Set up in 2007, the airline has 11 aircraft, including two Airbus-310s and five MD-83s.

On the domestic front, it flies to Chittagong, Sylhet, Jessore, Cox's Bazar and Saidpur.

Listed in 2010, United Airways remains the lone airline in the stockmarket, with its market capitalisation coming to Tk 568.57 crore.

Its shares traded between Tk 9.9 and Tk 9 yesterday on Dhaka Stock Exchange before closing at Tk 9.7.
