Uber offers insurance to riders

Uber in partnership with Pioneer Insurance yesterday launched an insurance programme for its riders and driver partners for accidents during rides. The on-demand ridesharing company offers Tk 2 lakh for accidental deaths, up to Tk 2 lakh for permanent disability and up to Tk 1 lakh for hospitalisation, Uber said in a statement.

“This announcement is a reflection of our efforts to meaningfully impact and improve the Uber experience. We are deeply humbled by the love and support we have received from our rider and drivers in Bangladesh and this announcement is a reiteration of our commitment to them,” said Prabhjeet Singh, regional general manager for Uber.

“As ridesharing as a concept becomes more popular and is embraced by more and more people, this first-of-its-kind insurance policy will be a pioneer in shaping the future of the industry”.
