Finance Minister AMA Muhith today said the government has been considering keeping the provision of time scale for the public servants.

“Everybody does not get promotion. So, if this is not maintained they will be seriously affected,” Muhith told reporters at his secretariat office today.

The time scale provides government staff upper grade scale when they do not get promotion in time.

Earlier, a secretary-level panel led by Cabinet Secretary Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan recommended cancellation of the time scale keeping in line with the Pay Commission suggestions.

However, the finance minister said the time scale or the selection grade is likely to be kept.

The proposal for salary hike has been finalised around one month back, but the proposal regarding the time scale was yet be sent to the cabinet due to dissenting opinions among the government officials and employees.

Muhith said, “The proposal of the Pay Commission is almost ready. The prime minister has also given the instruction. It will be sent to the cabinet in next couple of weeks.”
