Refueling pump owners have threatened to go on strike from October 30 pressing for a charter of demands including hike in sales commission and checking of incessant road rental hike.

“The strike will begin from 6:00am on October 30 if our 12-point demands are not met,” Nazmul Hoque, convener of Bangladesh Petrol Pump O Tank Lorry Malik Shramik Oikya Parishad, said.

“We earlier pressed our 12-point demand to the government. But the issue was not settled. So we decided to go on indefinite strike,” Nazmul said at a press briefing in Dhaka today.

In March, April, June and August this year the association had petitioned to the government bodies concerned for holding discussions over the problems the sector have been facing.
