PayPal Xoom launched in Bangladesh

Xoom service of global online payment system Paypal has been launched in Bangladesh.

Sajeeb Wazed Joy, prime minister's adviser for information and communication technology, inaugurated the international gateway  this morning at a function titled “PayPal+Xoom service and freelancer conference” at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka, reports Bangla Daily Prothom Alo.

Previously, PayPal account holders across the world could not send money through it to Bangladesh, but now they can send up to ten thousand USD at a time using PayPal wallet, the Prothom Alo report also says.

Reportedly, transaction up to one thousand USD will cost 4.99 USD but no fee will be needed for transactions worth more than one thousand.

People can primarily receive the service from nine commercial banks, including Sonali, Rupali and Social Islami Bank.
