State-owned Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will begin selling potatoes at Tk 25 a kg in Dhaka through their trucks tomorrow, said its spokesperson today.

Each person will be able to buy two kilogrammes of the vegetable, said TCB Information Officer Humayun Kabir.

The decision comes two days after Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi announced the plan of selling the popular tuber at subsidised rates in the face of spiraling prices.

One of the most consumed vegetables, potatoes were retailing at around Tk 50 a kg in Dhaka.

The TCB official said the mobile trucks of TCBs will sell potatoes along with onions, oil, sugar and pulse.
