Stocks continue rising again

The stock market came back to its rising trend as investors preferred buying more shares of well-performing companies today.

DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), soared 31 points, or 0.44 per cent, to 7,228.

The stock of Grameenphone added 52 points to the index alone. Apart from the telecom operator, Beximco Ltd, Beximco Pharmaceuticals and Square Pharmaceuticals also contributed 80 points jointly, according to the data of amarstock.com, a sharemarket data analysis website.

Turnover, an important indicator of the market, increased around 3 per cent to Tk 2,171 crore today, up from Tk 2,104 crore a day earlier.

Jute Spinners topped the gainers' list that rose 9.95 per cent followed by Fortune Shoes, Samorita Hospital, Alif Industries, and Khulna Power Company.

Keya Cosmetics shed mostly in the market that fell 8.69 per cent followed by Dominage Steel Buildings Systems, Walton Hi-tech Industries, First Finance and Sonali Paper.

At the DSE, 127 stocks rose, 208 declined and 30 remained unchanged.

Stocks of Beximco Ltd traded mostly that worth Tk 153 crore followed by LankaBangla Finance, SAIF Powertec, Beximco Pharmaceuticals, and IPDC.

The Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE) also rose today. The CASPI, the general index of the port city bourse, rose 139 points, or 0.66 per cent, to 21,141.

Among 316 traded stocks, 109 advanced, 184 fell and 23 remained unchanged.
