SEVEN-DAY RESTRICTION ON MOVEMENT

Stockmarket to remain open from 10am to 12.30pm

The country's stockmarket will remain open during the seven-day restrictions on movement starting from tomorrow.

Trading will start at 10 am and continue until 12.30 pm, Prof Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam, chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission, told The Daily Star today.

"As the stockmarket trading can be executed through online, so we will not face any difficulty in case of trading during the movement restrictions," he added.

Earlier in the day, the central bank asked banks to keep some branches open from 10am to 1pm on regular working days.

Banks were also ordered to close the branches within 2.30pm after the completion of relevant works by bankers.
