Saudi company wants to invest in modernising Patenga Container Terminal

Saudi Arabian company Red Sea Gateway Terminal has proposed investment in operating, maintaining and modernising the Patenga Container Terminal in Chattogram.

Sea Gateway Terminal's Chairman Amer A Ali Reza made the proposal during a meeting with State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury in Jeddah on Tuesday (October 11, 2022), according to a statement issued yesterday (October 12, 2022).

Earlier, a Bangladesh delegation led by Khalid visited the headquarters and operations of Red Sea Gateway. The company's high officials presented to him the plan and investment proposal.

The proposal was made under an MoU on Public Private Partnership signed between the two countries last year.

Khalid Mahmud also visited the container handling operations of the Red Sea Gateway Terminal at the Jeddah Islamic Port.

He also held a meeting with Saudi Communication Minister.

Chattogram Port Authority Chairman Rear Admiral M Shahjahan and Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Md Javed Patwary were also present during the meeting.
