The proposed Land Reform Bill 2022 will prohibit building of any infrastructure on triple-cropping lands, Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said today.

"The cabinet has already given go-ahead to the Land Reform Bill 2022 and the land ministry will now present the bill in the next parliamentary session in October."

The proposed bill will also not allow anyone to have over 60 bighas of land under single ownership, he said.

The minister made the comments today at a seminar on "Decentralisation of Dhaka and sustainable urbanisation in Bangladesh" organised by the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) at its auditorium in the capital.

DCCI President Md Sameer Sattar chaired the event while Syeda Rizwana Hasan, chief executive of Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association, and Mohammad Fazle Reza Sumon, president of Bangladesh Institute of Planners, also spoke.
