Clients are madly rushing to the nearby banks today in attempts to withdraw cash and complete banking transactions just a day before the beginning of a seven-day restrictions on movement from tomorrow.

Branches across the city are now facing the same situation as clients usually feel comfortable to keep cash during crisis moments.

An official of Southeast Bank's Dhanmondi branch said people were flocking to banks in the last couple of days and the situation is continuing today as well.

"We are doing banking following the health protocol instructed by the government. No client is allowed to get banking service without wearing face mask," he said.

Md Nurnnabi, who waited in front of an Untied Commercial Bank's branch at Mohammadpur, said he has been queuing for more than half an hour to withdraw cash. "The rush is too much today."

Branches at Motijheel area are also experiencing the mad rush since the opening of the outlets. An official of Social Islami Bank said the rush may continue until 3pm when the banking period will be ended.

Mercantile Bank's Panthapath branch has also faced the rush since morning. The situation is almost the same for branches of other banks also.

The central bank yesterday extended the transaction period by two hours to 3pm such that people can do banking smoothly today.
