Govt sets target of earning $4 billion by 2025 through export of ships

The government has set a target of earning four billion dollars in foreign currency by 2025 through exporting ships.

To meet this goal, the Cabinet in its regular meeting today approved the Ship Construction Industry Development Policy 2020.

Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam during a briefing at the Secretariat's conference room said the country currently makes around $1 billion through exporting ships.

The prime minister has directed to establish a ship-building industry in the down house of the Payra port.

Under the policy, various benefits and loans can be accessed.
