First ever Bangladesh-UK connectivity hub launched at high commission in London

A virtual IT desk and B2B connectivity hub have been launched in London to connect businesses in the UK with Bangladesh-based IT companies.

Bangladesh High Commission in London, in collaboration with the ICT Division of the Government of Bangladesh, organised the virtual B2B inauguration event titled "Bangladesh-UK@50: Forging a Digital Economy Partnership" on June 3, 2021.

Developed by the LICT Project of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) in collaboration with the London High Commission, the IT desk and connectivity hub were inaugurated by State Minister for ICT, Zunaid Ahmed Palak with British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office Minister Lord Tariq Ahmad.

The hub and the desk, the first of its kind at a Bangladesh mission abroad, will connect investors and partners in the UK to Bangladesh-based IT companies and help explore business opportunities and expedite Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).

Chief Guest, British Minister for South Asia, Commonwealth and the UN, Lord Ahmad pledged UK's unremitting support and collaboration in promoting knowledge and technology-based digital economy partnership. He said, "Tech collaboration between the governments and the people of Bangladesh and the UK will take bilateral relations of the two countries into the next digital age".

Speaking at the event as guest of honour, ICT Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak said, "The virtual desk at the High Commission would help foster Bangladesh-UK trade and investments as well as knowledge partnerships in the technology and BPO sectors of both countries.
