The central bank today gave go-ahead to the members of the e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) to remit abroad the fees for the advertisements broadcasted in different digital platforms.

The members now can broadcast their products in the form of advertisements in different websites, including social media sites.

The members of the e-Cab will be allowed to send $10,000 per year, which will also cover the purchase and maintenance of website domains, according to a notice of the banking regulator.

The Bangladesh Bank (BB) also permitted the 1,350 members of the e-CAB to use international credit or pre-paid card to send outward remittance.

They will be allowed to send a maximum of $2,000 per transaction through credit card, but the amount cannot cross $10,000 a year.

A nominated official of an eligible firm will be permitted to use the credit card.

The initiative will help e-commerce traders to make online payments against their legitimate expenses smoothly, a central bank official said.

The e-CAB is devoted to the development of the e-commerce sector in the country.

In order to ensure growth of the e-commerce sector, the e-CAB now focuses on online shop and e-service, e-payment and transaction and so on.
