Case filed over forest staff's murder

A case was filed yesterday with Bhujpur Police Station against 16 persons in connection with the murder of a forest staffer during an eviction drive in Hasnabad Range of Fatikchhari reserve forest on Wednesday.

Atikur Islam, beat officer of Hasnabad Forest Range, filed the case, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhujpur Police Station Bayes Alam said.

“Police have arrested 10, including all seven female accused from Fatikchhari upazila,” he added.

Abdus Salam, a gardener of Chittagong divisional forest office, was killed when the attackers swooped on forest employees during an eviction drive, said Hasnabad Range Officer Khasrul Amin.
