BMW 7 series LCI sedan hits local market

Executive Motors Ltd, BMW’s official distributor and service partner in Bangladesh, yesterday launched a new 7 Series LCI luxury sedan of the German multinational company for the local market.

The 17.25-foot-long vehicle is 22mm longer than its predecessor and its price will start from Tk 2.5 crore, said Dewan Muhammad Sajid Afzal, director for operations of Executive Motors.

The new vehicle will come with five years of free service, parts, maintenance and repair and there will be no additional running costs for customers for the next five years from the date of purchase, he said.

The car powered by TwinPower Turbo technology comes with a 2,998cc six-cylinder in-line petrol engine, Afzal said.

It takes 5.1 seconds only to reach 100 km per hour speed while the top speed it can generate is 250 km per hour, he said at its unveiling at Executive Motors’ Tejgaon showroom in Dhaka.

“The car is offered in the long-wheelbase body variant. The wheelbase length of 10.5 feet promises all occupants, especially the rear-seat passengers, an abundance of space and opulence,” the company said in a statement.

The new BMW 7 Series comes with full-hybrid drive option. Drive torque is generated from the petrol engine or electric motor or both and transmitted to all four wheels via BMW xDrive, it said. The maximum output from the system is 394 hp and the max system torque is 600 Nm.

This car also comes with BMW eDrive technology that synchronises electric motor integrated into eight-speed Steptronic transmission and generator function for recuperating energy for the high-voltage battery.

The car’s combined electric power consumption is 15.8 kWh/100 km, according to the statement.

“We import nine different models of BMW car,” Afzal said.

“There has been a surge in demand for luxury vehicles in Bangladesh. BMW has already developed a legacy of being the role model for an unmatched driving experience with sophisticated elegance.”

He said BMW changes the exterior and improves the technology of their existing models in every four years, which was called life cycle impulse or LCI.

Executive Motors has been selling 100 units of different series BMW cars on average since 2016, he said. “We sold 135 units in 2017 and 150 units in 2018.” “Till now, we have sold nearly 900 units of BMW cars in the last 10 years.”
