Bangladesh sees surge in new types of cybercrimes: survey

Defrauding people with false job promises, illegal lending via online platforms and carrying out fraudulent activities through apps are among a new genre of cybercrimes that have soared in Bangladesh, according to a survey. 

Such cybercrimes have increased by 381.76 per cent in a year, found the survey titled Cyber Crime Trends in Bangladesh.

The Cyber Crime Awareness Foundation released the report at an event at the Dhaka Reporters Unity in the capital today.

About 217 cybercrime victims were surveyed for the report.
