ABB rallies around EXIM Bank MD

The Association of Bankers, Bangladesh yesterday urged the authority concerned to take due steps against the allegations of torture on the EXIM Bank Managing Director Mohammed Haider Ali Miah.

"A report was published in different media outlets on May 26. We have observed that the headline of the report is -- the MD of EXIM Bank was tortured and fired at," said the press release issued by the ABB, a forum of private banks' managing directors.

The ABB expressed grave concern over the incident reported in the newspapers.

The organisation expects that the authority concern would take appropriate measures after carrying out proper investigations.

Such an incident will put an adverse impact on bankers as well as the concerned persons and entities at home and abroad, it added.
