12 persons, 3 organisations to get Bangladesh-WICCI Awards

Bangladesh-India Business Council is going to honour 12 outstanding personalities and 3 impactful organisations in Bangladesh on November 30.

The council, an associate body of the Women's Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WICCI), a business chamber for women entrepreneurs, businesswomen and professionals, will confer the "Bangladesh-WICCI Awards" in six categories on the occasion of its first anniversary.

The categories are: iconic companies creating a better world for all, young innovators creating a better world for all, exceptional women of excellence, iconic women creating a better world for all, leaders of the decade, and legendary leaders of the decade, the council said in a press release today.  

The award-giving ceremony will be held at Hotel Le Meridian Dhaka at 6:00 pm where Parliament Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will grace the occasion as chief guest.

Law Minister Anisul Huq will be present as a special guest while Salman F Rahman MP, adviser to the prime minister, and Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam will be present as guests of honour. Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Md Jashim Uddin will chair the event.

Senior Representatives of the government, diplomats, policymakers, bankers, business leaders, eminent women entrepreneurs and media personalities will attend the event as distinguished guests, WICCI said.

Bangladesh-India Business Council was formed in August 2020 under the leadership of Mantasha Ahmed, president of the council, who represents WICCI in Bangladesh.

At present, the council has 23 esteemed members and four advisers --Rubaba Dowla, Sonia Bashir Kabir, Farzana Chowdhury and Kanakchanpa Chakma. All members and advisers of the council are leading businesswomen and corporate icons.

Meanwhile, with 250,000 members and inspiring women across 120 countries, WICCI is among the largest women's network offering the widest outreach for global connections empowering women's entrepreneurship and leadership.

WICCI drives fundamental changes in governmental policies, laws, incentives and entrepreneurial ecosystems, with a view to robustly encourage and empower women in business, industry and commerce across all sectors and fields.
