ITFC organises first African-Asian Cotton B2B meeting

In its continuous efforts to promote and foster intra-trade development, the International Islamic Trade Financing Corporation (ITFC), a member of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) Group, has organised its first African-Asian Cotton B2B Meeting as part of its Cotton Development and Partnership Program.

The first meeting was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh on April 9, 2017, according to an ITFC press release.

Bangladesh Finance Minister AMA Muhith, also the chairman of the IDB Board of Governors, graced the event with his presence. ITFC Chief Executive Officer Hani Salem Sonbol was also present in the event, the release read. 

The meeting was attended by delegates from West African cotton producers, the African Cotton Association, the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association, the Bangladesh Cotton Association, and Bengali Spinning/Textile Mills, it also read.

At the meeting, ITFC made its commitment further to promote sustainable intra-trade relationships by between African cotton suppliers and Asian buyers in Bangladesh and Indonesia, the release added.
