Stock investors' participation rises despite Omicron fears

Participation of investors in the stock market continued to rise today despite the fear of deterioration of the pandemic situation amid the bullish market.

The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), remains almost flat at 7,055.

Turnover, an important indicator of the stock market, hit Tk 1,712 crore, which was 1 per cent higher than the previous day.

At the DSE, 184 stocks advanced, 146 fell and 48 remained the same.

Desh Garments topped the gainers' list that rose 10 per cent followed by Union Insurance, Prime Life Insurance, Shepherd Industries and SS Steel.

Anlima Yearn shed mostly that dropped 6 per cent followed by Aziz Pipes, IT Consultants, Tung Hai Knitting, and Asia Insurance.

Bangladesh Shipping Corporation stocks were traded mostly worth Tk 98 crore followed by Beximco Ltd, Saif Powertec, GPH Ispat, and Fareast Islami Life Insurance.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) was also edged up 8 points to 20,658.

Among the traded 307 traded stocks 158 rose 110 fell and 39 remained unchanged.
