The government will organise a two-day business-to-business conference in the capital on May 21, in a bid to boost the use of software and ICT services in Bangladesh.

The ICT Division and Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) are jointly organising the event -- Biztech B2B Conference -- at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel.

Specialists will present four industry papers on banking and finance, education, health, and garments to give a perspective on how automation can promote growth in these industries, said Zunaid Ahmed Palak, ICT state minister, speaking at a press conference at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka yesterday.

The government will arrange the exhibition to help local ICT and software companies expand their market and raise earnings from the sector to $5 billion by 2021, he said.

Key stakeholders from the government and private sectors will discuss different issues related to the ICT sector on the sidelines of the exhibition, said Palak.

The exhibition of corporate solution providers will give the visitors an opportunity to hold one-to-one meetings with the service providers to help them know about state-of-the-art ICT services, said Shameem Ahsan, president of BASIS.

Ashraful Islam, executive director of Bangladesh Computer Council, and Naimuzzman Mukta, public perception expert of the Access to Information project of the Prime Minister's Office, were also present.
