BTRC now decides to keep internet speed uninterrupted

A day after deciding to block mobile internet and slash internet speed for two and a half hours on SSC exam days, the government backtracked on the decision this morning and asked the operators to ensure uninterrupted internet service.

The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission sent an e-mail to all internet gateway operators at 8:10am informing them of the decision.

A demo to limit internet speed was carried out last night around 10:00pm to 10:30pm.

In an email, the BTRC wrote, “Dear IIG Concern, I am directed to inform you that all activities relating speed limit has been suspended until further notice.”

In an extraordinary move to stop SSC question paper leak, the government yesterday decided to shut down internet service for two and a half hours on exam days. It was decided yesterday that, mobile internet will remain fully shut and internet speed will be slashed to 25Kbps for other internet users from 8:00am to 10:30am on those days.
