Shamima Nargis new BDBL chairman

Shamima Nargis has joined as the chairman of the board of directors of state-owned Bangladesh Development Bank Limited (BDBL).

Nargis, former senior secretary to the government, has been appointed recently through a notification from the Financial Institutions Division of the finance ministry.

Before her retirement in October 2020, she served as a member of the Planning Commission.

She obtained her bachelor's and master's degree in English Literature from the University of Dhaka. Nargis studied at the University of Minnesota in the United States under the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship.

She also completed a course on "Mastering Negotiation" from Harvard Kennedy School in the United States and a course on Leadership from the Australian National University.

Nargis joined the Bangladesh Civil Service in 1988. In her long career, she has held various important positions in the public administration ministry, finance department, women and children affairs ministry, local government department and economic relations department.
