Inflation slightly declines in October

The inflation rate came down slightly to 5.47 per cent in October from 5.54 per cent in September due to price fall in some non-food and food items except onion.

Despite price hike of onion, the overall prices of vegetables and fruits came down slightly in October comparing to that in September, Planning Minister MA Mannan said today.

He was briefing reporters after the monthly consumer price index was placed at the Ecnec in Dhaka.

“The general point to point inflation in October declined to 5.47 per cent from 5.54 percentage point in September,” he said.

According to the data of Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), inflation in food products increased to 5.49 per cent in October from 5.30 per cent in the previous month while the non-food inflation rate declined to 5.45 per cent last month from 5.92 per cent in September.
