Bus plunge in Dinajpur kills 5

At least five people including two women were killed and 20 injured as an out-of-control bus fell into a ditch after hitting a roadside tree on Thakurgaon-Dinajpur highway in Birganj upazila of Dinajpur this morning.
The accident happened at Prem Bazaar point around 8:30am after the driver lost his control over the steering, police said.
The bus was heading for Dinajpur from Debiganj upazila of Panchagarh, said Shawkat Ali, officer-in-charge of Birganj Police Station, told our Dinajpur correspondent.
Two died on the spot while three others succumbed to their injuries at hospital, he added.
The deceased were identified as Golam Mostafa 38, Korban Ali, 45, Shamima Akter 30, Laila Begum 19, and Yunus Ali, 60.
The bodies were sent to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
The OC said the driver was driving the bus recklessly despite of a dense fog and ignoring the request by many of the passengers to run slowly and carefully.
Of the injured, 10 were taken to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated.
