Burdwan blast key accused’s brother held in Narayanganj

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) claimed to have detained a man from Narayanganj who is a brother of Sajid, the main accused in the Kolkata’s Burdwan blast case.

The detention came ahead of a visit of the India’s National Intelligence Agency (NIA) where Dhaka and Delhi are expected to share information on militancy issues.

The detainee has been primary identified as Md Monayem, held from Farajikanda village of Bandar upazila early today, Rab said a text message distributed to the media.

The details of the detention could not be known immediately.

Maksudul Alam, assistant director of Rab's legal and media wing, endorsed the news and said Monayem was held in the early hours of today for questioning.

On November, 9 a court in Kolkata remanded Sajid, the main accused in the Burdwan blast case, in the custody of India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) till November 20.
