BRTC bus catches fire, 5 injured

A passenger bus of the state-owned Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) caught fire due to a mechanical fault in Dharmadas area in the city of Friday.
At least five passengers received minor injuries while trying to get down from the bus hurriedly. They were given primary treatment at a local clinic.
Abdul Qader Jilani, officer in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, quoting witnesses said the CNG-run Panchagarh-bound bus from Bogra was carrying at least 50 passengers.
It caught fire around 5:00pm.
The fire originated from the engine of the bus due to a mechanical fault, the OC added.
Being informed, two fire fighting units from Rangpur Fire Service and Civil Defence Station rushed to the spot and doused the fire.
