Gyantapas Abdur Razzak Essay Competition celebrated

The results of the essay competition organised by Gyantapas Abdur Razzak Foundation, conducted virtually through Zoom, were announced on April 5. Each of the winners has been awarded with certificates and cash prizes.

A total of six people have been awarded in two categories. The winners at the university level are Suhrid Sadiq (first place), Arju Afrin Kathy (second place), and Md Akmal Hossain (third place). All three winners are students of Dhaka University. The winners at the school-college level are Ayan Chakraborty (first place), a student of Amritlal De College, Barisal, Nazifa Tarannum Ruhia (second place), a student of Wills Little Flower School and College, Dhaka, and Sharmin Akter (third place), a student of Kalai Gobindpur Mahila Dakhil Madrasa, Cumilla. In addition, Dr Ahrar Ahmed, director general of the foundation and the ceremony's welcome speaker, awarded the youngest contestant, Jannatul Haque Jyoti, a class four student of Karatitolasi MS Memorial High School and College, a special award.

Chairman of Bengal Foundation and founder trustee of Gyantapas Abdur Razzak Foundation, Abul Khair Litu presided over the function. Prominent human rights activist and former caretaker government adviser, Sultana Kamal, and Mahfuz Anam, editor and publisher of The Daily Star, were the event's chief and special guests, respectively. Also participating in the event were judges involved in the evaluation of the essay competition and teachers and civil society representatives from different universities of the country.

The guests and judges stressed the need for such essay competitions in nurturing cultural and intellectual development. They praised the Gyantapash Foundation's efforts to strengthen the arts, literature, and research culture in Bangladesh.

The topic-themes of the essays were "Bangabandhu's dream and the achievements of Bangladesh" at the school-college (from classes one to 12) level, and "The role of students and teachers in the emergence of Bangladesh" at the university level emergence. This event was the foundation's second essay competition.
