Body of abducted schoolboy found in Dinajpur

The body of a schoolboy was recovered in Dinajpur Sadar upazila early today four days after he was abducted allegedly for Tk 50 lakh ransom.

Saiyadul Mursalin, 14, was a class IX student of Cheradangi High School in the upazila, reports our Dinajpur correspondent.

Police detained five people in connection with the abduction and murder.

Informed by locals, police recovered the body of Mursalin with his hands and legs tied up from a paddy field at Mohabbatpur Purbopara village around 3:30am, police said.

Mursalin might has been strangulated to death, they said.

The boy remained missing from the village from Thursday afternoon, said the victim’s father Moksedul, who is a deed writer at Dinajpur registry office.

In the evening on the same day, the abductors demanded Tk 50 lakh as ransom from Moksedul over his mobile phone.

Moksedul talked with the abductors over phone Friday afternoon and said that he could only pay Tk 10 lakh. Since then, the kidnappers’ mobile phone was switched off, the father said. 

Md Altaf Hossain, officer-in-charge of Dinajpur Sadar Police Station, confirmed the incident.

The body was sent to Dinajpur Medical College and hospital for autopsy.
